Otherwise titled, my foray into “Pen Pal World”
Have already met some great catches for instance, there is Qaisar:
"Nice to know about you! I am Qaisar. Your good name please? I am 36 years having muscular body."
I’m sure my soulmate is just around the corner!
Went to the states and presented the dangers of harmful algal blooms (or HABs to those in the know) to the Great Lakes to local 5th graders. We ended up playing my game with the kids, where you clean the algae out of your lake…

and put it in the waste sites…

all while watching out for the polluters, who just put it all back. damn polluters. the kids all had fun, note their naturally smiling faces. i didn’t even have to pay these ones for their willing participation, unlike at my last job…damn models.
Saw this on my tumblr feed and thought I’d steal it without the reblog to open my “new co-op post begins today” post, but to give credit where it is due and all that, thanks to inbetween for the quote.
So I began work today at the intergovernmental organization in my hometown, where I’ll be an Outreach Assistant for four months. I had no idea what to expect from this job, since the interview was over the phone and time ran up before I got a chance to ask any questions. I took it anyway on good faith and that small mention of attending a Barack conference in September. Actually—just joking—while Obama was a killer selling point, I would have taken it anyway just to quiet my mother’s incessant nagging that “never does an opportunity come up to work back at home!…It may be the last time you are here….I can make you pasta for dinner!” Even though concentrated helpings of carbs now tire me out (aren’t they supposed to be a SOURCE of energy?), I ceded to her wishes, and here I am.
This is getting far too lengthy so I’ll cut to the chase: job seems really cool and it turns out it will involve lots of travel around the United States. Like “lots” as in once a week. Starting Thursday. Woohoo! (Oh, and I have a private office, with a view. NBD)
in regards to my previous post, why is “color outside the lines” always the go-to advice for how to embrace life? Is it really that empowering?
i’ll start putting in my 10,000 hours now.
Just thinking about Malcolm Gladwell’s infamous assertion about how 10,000 hours of deliberate practice leads to expertise. Not quite sure how I feel about the theory; it’s kinda nice knowing anything is possible, and that I could become an awesome singer by the time I’m 30 if I so chose. But at the same time, 10,000 is A LOT. That’s about 3 hours a day for 10 years. I’ll tell you all right now, I have put in nowhere near that amount of time in anything so far, and I’m already 21! What a waste!
Still, I suppose life is still young, so maybe now would be a good time to decide what I want to be good at and test out Malcolm’s little theory. Maybe, there is still hope that I can amount to something after all! Anyway, if I ever have kids I’ll be sure to remember this rule. I can start them up at 5 and they can all be master performers and athletes by fifteen. Plus, provided that they don’t hate me after being forced to put so much time into mastering a lucrative skill, I might even be presented with a nice condo in South Hampton’s to bring in my golden years.:) Thanks Malcolm!
